The Division of Extramural Activities Support (DEAS) implementation date is October 3, 2004. In order to ensure that there is adequate coverage and a smooth transition, there will be an extension of the buyout date for those staff that have previously been approved for the EASS VSIP and given an extension of their separation date until 7/24/04 to a new separation date no later than 9/30/04. However, IC management will determine whether an extension is appropriate for their IC business operations.

What does this mean for you? For those staff who have already applied for and been given approval to retire on or about 7/24, you will receive a letter this week and will be given until Monday, July 12th, to provide your Executive Officer with the Extension Request Form (which your EO will provide to you.) If approved, this will mean that you can opt for another date between 7/24/04 and 9/30/04 in which to retire—with the concurrence of your supervisor.
